Search engine algorithms are getting more and more complex daily. For you site to attain its highest possible rankings you have to make sure that some basic SEO (search engine optimization) techniques are implemented.
The first rule to keep in mind is to make sure you are not doing anything that is going to intentionally or accidentally keep search engines from indexing your site.
Since many search engines and directories addition their own indexes with information from other search engines, blocking just one of the major search engines can have a huge effect on ranking across many search engines.

There are some steps for create simple SEO on your web:
1. Make sure you are using a any.txt file on your site.Even a simple one with basic entries is better than none. Will allow all search engine robots to index anything they find on your site. Will block all legitimate robots from indexing your site. Some hosting provider’s auto generates a robots.txt file for their users, but I have seemed them actually output code that will confuse or even block any from indexing your site.
2. Try and make all of your internal links absolute links for the site to help the search engines determine their route through the site.
Ie. http://www.mysite.com/section1/nextpage.html
is better than ../section1/nextpage.html
3. Manually submit your site to as many search engines that will accept your listing, same for directories. Multiple listing services may submit your site to thousands, but you never know if the search engines ever actually use those links that are submitted. If you take the time to manually submit your site, the search engine is more likely to add you to their listing more quickly.
4. If you have any kinds of list on pages, make sure to utilize list tags anywhere you can. Line break tags may give you the visual effect you are looking for, but list tags will get you better rankings with search engines
5. These HTMl tags should be on every page on your site
For each page make sure you utilize the following tags on each and every page. Keywords should be descriptive about the content on that particular page. Description should try an include at least one to two of your keywords, but also be descriptive
Options for the robots tag are: index, follow, all, no index, no follow
6. Search engines love header tags if properly used
Use header tags whenever possible to point out important headers for content.
7. When your site is built and published, create a simple sitemap that list all sections, pages, etc.. on the site and make sure that the links on that page are absolute.Historically sitemaps have never really been for visitors, and this is even more true today.
Links that are embedded in JavaScript and/or flash may or may not be read correctly by search engines.
Tips & cautions
1. Visit your site and click each and every link at least once to make sure they are working correctly OR invest in some link checking software.
2. Try and avoid JavaScript navigation systems without some type of fall back navigation.(i.e. sitemap )
3. Do not pay anyone for multiple listings on the so called thousands of search engines (they do not work)
4. If you do go this way, you will want to setup a free email account somewhere to catch all the spam from this service.
